DESCRIPTION :
Bavanchalu/ Bakuchi is an important herb that is used for its medicinal properties. The seeds of Bavanchalu are kidney-shaped, having a bitter taste and a very unpleasant odor.
1. Vitiligo
Bavanchalu is also known as “Shvitraghni” because of its properties to treat Vitiligo, which is a skin concern where some parts of the skin lose their pigmentation. The active ingredient in Bavanchalu is “Psoralens” which on exposure to the sun forms melanin in depigmented skin. Ayurvedic therapy involves the local application of the herbal paste or Lepa of the herbal decoction. A clinical study suggests that sole local application of the Lepa is a safe and effective treatment for Vitiligo.
2. Skin disease
Bavanchalu helps to treat various skin problems like itching red papules, itching eruptions, eczema, ringworm, rough and discolored dermatosis, dermatosis with fissures due to its Raktashodaka(Blood Purifier) properties.
3. Indigestion
Bavanchalu helps to improve digestion due to its Ushna(hot) potency which promotes digestive fire and digest food quickly.
4. Worm infestation
Bavanchalu treats worm infestation due to its Krimighna (anti worms) property.
5. Cough disorders
Bavanchalu has the property of balancing Kapha as well as has Ushna Virya (hot in Potency) so it can help control asthma, cough, and bronchitis.
6. Hair Loss
Bavanchalu powder improves hair growth and removes dandruff when applied externally due to its Keshya (hair growth enhancer) property.
7. Wound
Bavanchalu helps to the quick healing of wound when applying to the affected area because of its Ropan(healing) properties. Because of this property, Bavanchalu accelerated the wound healing process.
HOW TO USE :
External :
1. Mix Bavanchala powder with Coconut oil
2. Make a paste and apply to the affected area
Internal :
2 Spoons of Bavanchala powder with warm water, after meals. Twice a day or as directed by the physician.
